About Me!

Name: Melissa Dawn Chapple

Education: Heritage Elementary in Medina Ohio, A.I. Root Middle School (6th and 7th) in Medina, Ohio, Mason Middle School (8th) in Mason, Ohio, Mason High School in Mason Ohio, and Mount Union College in Alliance, Ohio.

Experience: This will be my fifth year teaching. This is my first year teaching 1st grade at Cherryville Elementary. My last 4 years were spent teaching Kindergarten at Springfield Elementary School.

Why NC?: I have spent my whole life in Ohio. As much as I love my home state (Go Indians!) it was time to venture out in the world. North Carolina has been a hospitable place to live and every day is a new adventure!

Why teach?: Where do I begin? A part of me has ALWAYS wanted to be a teacher. I had the privilege of having the greatest Kindergarten and first grade teachers EVER. Their names are Mrs. Bendo and Mrs. Nettleton. Unfortunately Mrs. Nettleton has since passed away, but left me with a great love of children and a passion to teach. I also came to love music at this young age because of my music teacher, Mrs. Campbell. Later I had a wonderful choir director, Mrs. Santos. The two of them instilled a great love of music. The first half of my freshman year of college, I had the intention of studying music education. However, I came to realize that it was not for me, but teaching was! Because of my great love of music, I incorporate music into my classroom as much as possible! Teaching is never dull and always full of surprises! No two students are alike and I love that!
