Morning Meeting

Morning Meetings allow our class to meet together to start our day. In the morning meeting we discuss what we will be learning that day. Our morning meeting consists of: greeting song, morning message, Student of the Week, and ABC/Sight Word review.

Greeting Song
I use a variety of Dr. Jean songs to act as greeting songs. Some songs I use are "Shake a Hand," (from CD "Kiss Your Brain") "Rise and Shine," (from CD "All Day Long") and "Twinkle Friends" (from CD "Kiss Your Brain"). I also use "Oh What a Beautiful Morning" (from the musical, "Oklahoma!").

Morning Message
The morning message is an interactive writing activity where we discuss what our day will look like. We discuss what we will learn, what special we have, and more. As the year goes on, the Morning Message serves as an additional Phonemic Awareness/Phonics/Writing lesson. There is always a question posed to the students to include everyone!

Student of the Week
Each week a student will be selected to be the Student of the Week. We will do activities with the Student of the Week's name each day of the week. On Friday, the Student of the Week may bring an item for show and tell.

ABC/Sight Word Review
Using a variety of music (Dr. Jean and HeidiSongs) as well as chants, students will review sight words and the alphabet daily.
